mHealth study reports 95% success rate in patient medication adherence

Tailored mobile health technology may ensure safety of care for patients with complex chronic diseases, according to a forthcoming study in the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.

In a randomized group of 20 patients with chronic kidney disease, a mobile health medication inquiry system proved effective with a 5 percent error rate for inputting medications and recording responses regarding their appropriateness in CKD.

Although study participants showed general proficiency with using the mHealth application for medication reporting, the study revealed some variability in the electronic health literary of patients. The majority of patients reported feeling the Internet was a useful source of health information, but only about half reported knowing where to find those helpful resources online.
