Joshua Vest, PhD, seeks to identify the most effective method of electronic information sharing in the primary care setting.
Dr. Vest, an associate professor of health policy and management at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, has identified two approaches to electronic information exchange: one, in which providers query communitywide patient records, and another, in which patient records are automatically delivered to relevant providers. In this study, he will track individual physician behaviors within an EHR system to identify how these approaches are used during health information exchange.
His research is funded through a recent grant from the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
