IBM, Anthem partner to boost IT operational strategic performance

Anthem has selected IBM to provide operational services and storage infrastructure for the next five years, largely focused on cloud solutions.

The new partnership, valued at approximately $500 million, seeks to strengthen the operational performance of Anthem's technology infrastructure and business solutions and improve the experience and value delivered to members.

IBM will also provide new "cloud orchestration capabilities" that allow Anthem to integrate cloud infrastructure into its existing data center.

"We are excited about our renewed partnership with IBM, which includes numerous enhancements to contracted service levels and support processes," said Tom Miller, senior vice president and CIO of Anthem. "The healthcare industry is going through dynamic change that requires us to be more agile and responsive, utilizing advanced technology to drive better quality, value and outcomes for consumers."
