Charles Christian, vice president and CIO of St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Ga., and the 2015 HIMSS board chair, has been named vice president of technology and engagement of the Indiana Health Information Exchange, effective May 1.
Mr. Christian has held his current CIO position since January 2013. Prior, he was CIO of Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind., for nearly 24 years.
Under the leadership of Mr. Christian, Good Samaritan Hospital became one of the first hospitals in Indiana to join the statewide HIE in 2010.
"Chuck has a tremendous depth of experience helping healthcare organizations leverage IT to support the needs of providers and to improve patient care," said John P. Kansky, IHIE president and CEO, in a statement. "He is highly respected within the industry and brings with him extensive knowledge of public policy processes and working relationships with government and healthcare IT leaders at the local, state and national level."
