HHS CTO Bryan Sivak to resign

Bryan Sivak, the current CTO of the federal HHS, will resign from the HHS at a yet-undetermined date.

Mr. Sivak's career plans were announced on March 27 by HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell. He has served in the HHS as CTO and entrepreneur in residence since 2012. Ms. Burwell did not disclose the date of his departure nor who is being considered as a replacement, according to Politico Pro.

Mr. Sivak formerly served as the chief innovation officer under Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and the chief technology officer in the District of Columbia. Prior to his position as D.C. CTO, he led InQuira, a San Francisco-based management software company he founded in 1998. Oracle purchased the company in 2011, according to the report.

While at the HHS, Mr. Sivak founded the IDEA Lab, which has promoted the release of federal data and created collaborations with private entrepreneurs to use the data, according to the report.
