Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has approved the Georgia Health Information Network as the designated entity for the state's health information exchange.
GaHIN connects to the national eHealth Exchange and is a member of DirectTrust, a nonprofit association that works to support interoperable health information exchange.
"We appreciate the confidence shown in GaHIN by Gov. Deal and by the Georgia Department of Community Health," said Denise Hines, executive director of GaHIN. "With our new status, we will be able to more aggressively pursue grants that allow GaHIN to deliver a broader range of service to healthcare providers throughout the state of Georgia."
