Defense Secretary Ashton Carter's new DOD cyber strategy

U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter will announce a new cyber strategy for the Defense Department, according to FCW.

The strategy aims to speed up cyber-related research and development in the Pentagon and develop a workforce and corresponding technology at Cyber Command to deal with multiple threats. It also emphasizes the importance of employing a defensive cyber strategy with U.S. allies, especially with cyber threats from China.

The strategy covers securing information sharing and the intellectual property of contractors working with the Department of Homeland Security, according to the report.

Sec. Carter has additional initiatives he plans to launch including a pilot program for tech startups and the establishment of a DOD division of the U.S. Digital Service to help improve EHR interoperability between the VA and the DOD.
