Cleveland Clinic to Let Patients View Almost All Info in EMRs

Cleveland Clinic announced that it plans on providing its patients with access to nearly all the information in their electronic medical records.

Currently, patients can only access certain parts of their EMR online, such as after-visit summaries, medication lists and immunization records. With the new transparent version of the EMR system, however, patients will be able access pathology records, X-ray reports, physician notes and a list of their current health issues.

Beginning this month, the health system will start releasing pathology reports to patients through the new version of their EMR system.

This access will help patients play a bigger role in their own care, according to a Cleveland Clinic news release.
