CIO Jeffrey Ferranti: An asset to the Duke University Health System community

Jeffrey M. Ferranti, MD, MS is vice president for medical informatics and CIO at Duke Medicine and associate director of the Duke Center for Health Informatics at Duke University Health System in Durham, N.C.

He became CIO and vice president for medical informatics in June 2013, and he has been responsible for leading an Epic EMR rollout across four hospitals and more than 300 ambulatory clinics.

Dr. Ferranti is a principle investigator on an AHRQ-funded project for developing pediatric EHR formats and has an innovations grant exploring new uses for tablets in pediatric critical care. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt.

Dr. Ferranti is also a member of the editorial advisory board for CMIO magazine, a health IT advisory board member for Bristol Meyers Squibb and a CHIME member.

He has been at Duke in various capacities for 14 years, beginning in his residency in pediatrics in 2000. He is currently a faculty neonatologist at Duke University Hospital.
