CDs Stolen From Washington Physician's Office Contained Patient Data

CDs with information on an undisclosed number of patients were stolen from a physician's office the weekend of Oct. 14, according to a Sacramento Bee report.

Pieces of office equipment and CDs with patient information dating from 1993-2004 were stolen from the Renton, Wash.-based office of Paul C. Brown, MD. The CDs contained patients' names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, clinical information (such as diagnoses and conditions, lab results, medications and other information) and possibly the name and ID number of their health plan.

Dr. Brown is using ID Experts to offer a one-year ID Experts FraudStop Healthcare Edition membership, which includes credit monitoring, fraud resolution representatives, healthcare identity protection toolkit and insurance reimbursement for covered expenses.
