Castlight Health, Teladoc Partner for New Employer Offerings

Through a new partnership with healthcare cost management company Castlight Health, Teladoc's telemedicine services will be available to employers that work with both companies through Castlight's technology suite.

The goal of the partnership is to help employers reduce total healthcare expenditures by offering employees a lower-cost alternative to emergency departments or urgent care centers for non-emergent conditions such as bronchitis or skin rashes.

"Teladoc's relationship with Castlight is designed to deliver significant value for large employers nationwide by helping their employees seek lower cost, higher quality options," said Jason Gorevic, CEO of Teladoc, in the news release. "The Castlight relationship is in line with our recent strategic alliances and partnerships as Teladoc continues to expand and grow as a leader in healthcare."

Both Teladoc and Castlight have shown significant growth recently. In May, Teladoc announced the acquisition of rival AmeriDoc, which expanded its membership base by 1.5 million people. Castlight Health also announced in May first quarter revenue of $8.4 million, a 339 percent increase over the first quarter of 2013.
