Aurora Health Care unveils plans for cancer-focused precision medicine clinic

Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care is launching a new precision medicine clinic focused on oncology care. The clinic will be located at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.

The clinic will offer patients personalized cancer care, providing patients with additional treatment options if their cancer is not responding to conventional treatments, such as chemotherapy.

The clinic will feature Syapse, a precision medicine software system that supports complex medical decisions. Syapse will connect to Aurora's EHR system and enable physicians to compare data and treatments across the U.S. through the Oncology Precision Network, a precision oncology data sharing network.

Access to the Oncology Precision Network allows clinicians to examine outcomes data for more than 100,000 patients. Thus, they can see the effect of non-conventional treatment options in a shorter time frame.

Aurora will launch the oncology precision medicine program at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in fall of 2017. All 19 cancer care facilities within the Aurora network will have access to the precision medicine software by early 2018.
