Athenahealth to renovate, expand campus

A planning board approved Watertown, Mass.-based athenahealth's proposed plan to renovate its Arsenal on the Charles campus, reports Wicked Local.

The plan includes constructing about six new buildings and adding 250,000 square feet of office, retail and civic space, as well as a new parking garage, according to the report.

Athenahealth also is planning a Transportation Demand Management System to try to reduce the number of vehicles traveling to and from the property, according to the report.

The Arsenal on the Charles is an open campus established by athenahealth that is home to a number of other companies. It used to be a military building and was until recently closed to the public.

"The current conditions of the campus offer significant opportunities for community beautification and public activation for the once closed military installation," according to the Arsenal on the Charles website.
