Appstem, UC Davis join forces to create telemedicine platform for psychiatry services

San Francisco-based Appstem, a design and development firm, is partnering with the University of California, Davis' department of psychiatry and behavioral sciences to develop a telemedicine web platform.

Appstem will develop the platform, which aims to enhance accurate diagnosis of non-English speaking patients by eliminating the complexity of translating and transcribing non-English speaking patient interview videos.

The project is funded by a grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality. It is led by Peter Yellowlees MD, a professor of psychiatry at UC Davis and president-elect of the American Telemedicine Association.

Appstem has worked with numerous healthcare companies, including Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente.
