Mountain View, Calif.-based startup analyticsMD has secured $13 million in funding to expand its artificial intelligence platform.

Norwest Venture Partners and Mayfield co-led the financing round. AnalyticsMD, which leverages artificial intelligence for healthcare operations, will put this funding toward product development and go-to-market efforts. At present, Palo Alto, Calif.-based Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford; Auburn, Calif.-based Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital and Salinas, Calif.-based Natividad Medical Center, among others, have already adopted the analyticsMD technology.

AnalyticsMD aims to increase patient safety and hospital efficiency by processing healthcare data in real-time to predict potential issues and outcomes. The artificial intelligence platform, which utilizes machine learning, recommends course-corrections to address operational challenges before they arise.

"When it comes to health systems, operations is highly neglected," said CEO Mudit Garg. "But it's important. It's where you'll find the bulk of a hospital's costs and it's also where we can really move the needle on patient satisfaction. We believe that it's time to overhaul hospital operations."
