All Large Medical Labs in Colorado Connected to Statewide HIE

The Colorado Regional Health Information Organization, a statewide health information exchange, has announced all of the large medical laboratories in the state are participating in the network.

CORHIO estimates 60 percent of all medical tests performed in the state are now available for exchange over the network.

"The nation's leading medical labs and the hospital labs recognize that delivering patient results through a community-based electronic health information exchange not only helps improve patient care, but also helps keep the costs of technology low for providers," said Larry Wolk, MD, CEO of CORHIO, in the release. "We appreciate these labs' commitment to support the needs of both healthcare providers and patients in Colorado."

The announcement follows the connection of Quest Diagnostics, which operates a large lab in Denver. "Given our long-standing commitment to Colorado, we are proud to participate in the exchange, and look forward to delivering diagnostic insights that help drive better health for patients and providers in the state," said Stuart Smith, regional vice president, commercial, Quest Diagnostics, in the release.
