If you are a mid-sized organization, chances are you're using or planning on using the cloud, according to the Dell Global Technology Adoption Index Survey, which found 96 percent of surveyed healthcare organizations are using or considering using the cloud.
The survey collected responses from approximately 2,000 employees of mid-sized (100-5,000 employees) private and public healthcare organizations from 11 world regions between July 15 and Sept. 2, 2014.
Here are 9 more key findings on cloud computing from the DELL GTAI Survey.
1. Cloud computing is correlated with company growth: 72 percent of organizations using the cloud reported at least a 6 percent growth in the past three years. Just four percent experienced zero or negative growth.
2. Comparatively, of organizations not using the cloud, just 24 percent experienced at least a 6 percent growth, and 37 percent experienced zero or negative growth.
3. Organizations using at least three cloud solutions experienced a 15 percent increase in employee productivity compared to those using only one cloud solution.
4. Half of surveyed organizations are using just one type of cloud. Twenty-six percent are using at least two types of cloud.
5. Fifty-eight percent of surveyed organizations rely on an IT partner for information about the cloud, and 45 percent report using vendor websites for information.
6. The main reason for organizations not implementing the cloud was security (52 percent), followed by limited experience cloud computing (33 percent).
7. Three common reported benefits of the cloud were better allocation of IT resources (44 percent), cost savings (42 percent) and efficiency (40 percent).
8. Globally, the Latin America region has adopted the highest cloud computing usage, at 99 percent either having implemented or considering implementing the cloud.
