The percentage of U.S. physicians who routinely use digital tools has more than doubled to 30 percent from 13 percent in 2012, according to a recent Accenture survey.
The five health IT capabilities physicians use most include:
- Entering patient notes electronically (82 percent)
- Prescribing drugs electronically (72 percent)
- Receiving clinical results directly into a patient's EMR (65 percent)
- Using electronic administration tools (63 percent)
- Sending e-order requests to laboratories (62 percent)
Accenture's survey includes responses from more than 600 physicians from the U.S. A similar survey was conducted by Accenture in 2012.
