31% of Physicians See HIT as Means to Improve Profitability

Although 36 percent of physicians foresee a negative trend in profitability in the year ahead, 31 percent of physicians see technology as a target area to improve overall performance and profitability, according to the "Practice Profitability Index," sponsored by CareCloud, in partnership with QuantiaMD.  

Of the physicians surveyed, 41 percent reported that their practices have specific plans aimed at operational improvements. Of the 41 percent:

•    Forty-one percent reported that their practice will implement electronic health records.
•    Twenty-five percent reported that their practice will replace their existing EHR system.
•    Eighteen percent reported that their practice will outsource billing/collections.
•    Sixteen percent reported that their practice will replace practice management systems.

For this report, 5,012 physicians were surveyed during April 2013.
