TransUnion Healthcare launches prior authorization solution, expands insurance eligibility offering: 4 things to know

TransUnion Healthcare, a subsidiary of credit and information management company TransUnion, unveiled its prior authorization service and enhanced its insurance eligibility solution.

Here are four things to know.

1. Providers may use the prior authorization solution to confirm if medical procedures require preauthorization, according to a news release.

2. TransUnion Healthcare said features of the prior authorization solution include a library with both payer-specific prior authorization policies and providers' authorization rules, among other services.

3. With the insurance eligibility solution, hospitals may verify patient coverage, including copays, coinsurance and deductibles, the release states.

4. TransUnion Healthcare said features of the insurance eligibility solution include "connectivity to more than 800 payers" as well as "multiple delivery options for eligibility information, including integration with Epic and Meditech patient registration systems and batch transactions," among other services.
