Study: Online marketplace makes employees more confident healthcare consumers

Kelly Gooch -

A new study from Liazon suggests employees who moved to a benefits online marketplace became better informed healthcare consumers.

For the study, Liazon asked thousands of employees questions related to using the company's benefits marketplaces. All participants enrolled in a Liazon-powered marketplace last year.

Here are four study findings.

1. The study found 82 percent of employees are more confident in their healthcare decisions than they were before moving to an online marketplace.

2. A larger portion of employees (85 percent) report being more engaged in their care than they were before moving to an online marketplace.

3. Eighty-three percent of employees who moved to an online marketplace better understand what their health insurance and other benefits cover, according to the study.

4. The study found 85 percent of employees who moved to an online marketplace have better awareness of the cost of medical care.
