The Oregon Senate approved a $670 million healthcare tax package that will raise taxes on hospital revenue and some insurance plans to sustain state Medicaid services for the next two years, according to KTVZ.
The tax package will raise taxes on hospitals' net patient revenue by 0.7 percent and impose a 1.5 percent tax on insurance premiums, according to the report.
The approved tax package will help cut Oregon's upcoming $1.4 billion budget shortfall by a third.
The bill will head to Gov. Kate Brown for a final signature.
