OnPlan Health, Bluefin team up on payment protection solution

OnPlan Health, a healthcare patient payment and billing provider, has partnered with Bluefin Payment Systems to provide clients an end-to-end payment protection solution with PCI-validated Point-to-Point Encryption.

According to a news release, PCI-validated P2PE secures card transactions by encrypting all data within a PCI-approved point-of-entry swipe or keypad device. Decryptx, Bluefin's Decryption as a Service (DaaS) product, offers the security of Bluefin's PCI-validated P2PE solution suite through the OnPlan Health platform.

Through the partnership, Bluefin takes care of device management, chain of custody and customer support for OnPlan Health clients. OnPlan's Universal Token provides additional security by allowing the provider to store a token — a representation of the customer's credit card — that is portable across the provider's merchant ecosystem, both parties said.

"As credit card transactions continue to rise along with the risk of cardholder breach, healthcare providers are beginning to realize the security and compliance impact of taking payments over the phone or in person using web services, where malware could compromise card entry," David King, OnPlan's chief technology officer, said in a prepared statement. "Bluefin is aligned with OnPlan's vision, technology and strategy to deliver a simple and elegant solution tailored for the complex healthcare payment ecosystem."
