Northridge Hospital Foundation receives $2M donation to help fight cancer

Northridge Hospital Foundation, the fundraising organization for Dignity Health's Northridge (Calif.) Hospital Medical Center, has received a $2 million donation to support cancer services at the hospital.

The donation came from the Harold and Carole Pump Foundation, led by brothers Dana and David Pump, in honor of their father who died of cancer in 2000 and their mother who died in 2012.

Over the next four years, half of the pledge will fund ongoing cancer programs and services, including free mammograms for the underinsured and uninsured; home health services; and free transportation to and from the hospital for patients in need. The additional $1 million will go toward expanding the chemotherapy infusion center at the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Cancer Center at Northridge Hospital Medical Center.

To date, the Pump Foundation has given $6.2 Million to the Northridge Hospital Foundation for the Carole Pump Women's Center, the Harold and Carole Pump Department of Radiation Oncology and the cancer center.

"Dana and David Pump continue to partner with our hospital and our community in the fight against cancer," Brian Hammel, president of the Northridge Hospital Foundation, said in a prepared statement. "Their willing spirit, generosity and dedication to a cause is both greatly admired and appreciated. They are leaving quite a legacy in honor of their mom and dad."
