New facility could replace Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital

Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, Ore., might be replaced with a new facility if voters approve a $57 million ballot measure in May, according to an Oregon Coast Daily News report.

According to the report, which cites the hospital foundation, Samaritan Communities Pacific Hospital doesn't have room for growth and needs to be updated to current seismic, ADA and energy efficiency standards. Additionally, patients are experiencing long wait times, and the existing physical plant doesn't allow for new healthcare technologies to be installed, the report reads.

If the ballot measure passes, the building replacement would be completed by summer of 2017, according to the report. Expected improvements would include hospital rooms that are 20 percent larger, as well as upgraded imaging services.
