Mount Kisco Medical Group to lay off 109 workers: 3 things to know

Physician practice Mount Kisco (N.Y.) Medical Group is laying off 109 workers.

Here are three things to know about the layoffs.

1. The layoffs represent less than 50 percent of the positions within Mount Kisco Medical Group's in-house billing department.

2. The layoffs are due to an outside billing company, IKS Health, taking over parts of the physician practice's billing process, said Mount Kisco Medical Group president and CEO Scott D. Hayworth, MD.

3. The 109 affected employees received 90 days' advance written notice and after those 90 days will be offered six weeks' severance. Eligible employees will also receive an additional week of pay for each full year of service, up to an additional six weeks, Dr. Hayworth said. Mount Kisco Medical Group is also offering job placement assistance, both internally and externally.
