More than 9.1 million people enrolled in Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program between Oct. 1, 2013 and Sept. 30 of this year, with enrollment up approximately 16 percent over the average monthly enrollment for July through September 2013, according to a recent CMS report.
In states that haven't expanded Medicaid, enrollment in the two programs was up 6 percent compared to the baseline period, and in expansion states enrollment increased 23 percent, according to the report.
The 50 states, and Washington D.C.,that provided enrollment data for September 2014 reported nearly 68 million people were enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP, with 340,159 additional people enrolled in the programs in September as compared to August.
