Goldman Sachs predicts volatile month ahead for healthcare stocks

Goldman Sachs' options team predicts this October will be a particularly rocky month for healthcare stocks, CNBC reports.

October is historically rocky for stocks— last October's CBOE Volatility Index, a measure of the expectation of near-term volatility, was around 30 percent, according to the report. Bloomberg reported last October that the month has been the most volatile on the calendar for the past 20 years. The current volatility sits around 12 percent, meaning it could double in the next month and be in line with last year's numbers, according to CNBC.

On top of typical autumn volatility in all markets, additional factors could also influence healthcare stocks in particular. These include issues around pharmaceutical price jumps and the upcoming presidential election, according to the report.
