The U.S. Government Accountability Office selected two new members to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission — David Grabowski, PhD, and Dana Gelb Safran, ScD.
Dr. Grabowski is a professor in the healthcare policy department at Harvard Medical School in Boston. He has served on two CMS Technical Expert Panels, which focused on the Home Health Prospective Payment System and the Home Health Value-Based Purchasing Model. He serves on the editorial boards of numerous journals, including the American Journal of Health Economics.
Dr. Safran is chief performance measurement and improvement officer and senior vice president of enterprise analytics at Boston-based Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. She serves on the National Quality Forum Consensus Standards Approval Committee and the CMS Technical Expert Panel on the Quality Rating System. She is an associate professor at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.
The terms of the new members will expire in April 2020.
