For-profit hospital stock report: Week of Aug. 10-14

Four of the five major for-profit hospital operators saw their stock prices rise last week.

With shares down 1.55 percent, Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. was the only hospital operator to see its share price decrease.

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems saw the largest increase in share price, with its shares rising 2.88 percent to $58.19.

Here is how the five operators stack up.

  • Community Health Systems (Franklin, Tenn.): $58.19 per share (up 2.88 percent).
  • Hospital Corporation of America (Nashville, Tenn.): $91.58 per share (up 0.22 percent).
  • LifePoint Health (Brentwood, Tenn.): $81.85 per share (up 0.38 percent).
  • Tenet Healthcare Corp. (Dallas): $52.18 per share (down 1.55 percent).
  • Universal Health Services (King of Prussia, Pa.): $142.99 per share (up 0.18 percent).
