Cigna's revenues increased 9% in Q3

Health insurer Cigna posted consolidated revenues of $8.8 billion in the third quarter, which is a 9 percent increase over the third quarter of last year.

Cigna's adjusted income for the third quarter of this year fell to $519 million from the $536 million it posted in the third quarter of 2013.

Based on its third quarter financial results, the insurer predicts its consolidated adjusted income from operations for 2014 will be between $1.95 billion and $2 billion.

"Our third quarter results demonstrate the value we continue to deliver for Cigna's customers and clients through our focus on personalized service, innovative solutions and quality clinical outcomes," said David M. Cordani, president and CEO of Cigna.
