CHS' quest for back-office space continues

After walking away from one realty contract last week, Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health System has expanded its search for an office site, according to a report from The Tennessean.

The hospital operator announced last summer that it would be seeking up to 450,000 square feet of new space for back-office and support staff as well as a data center. CHS also announced it would be constructing a 150,000-square-foot building, which was slated to be completed by 2016.

Last week, CHS abandoned a contract with Duke Realty over a 21-acre property in Cool Springs, Tenn., not far from the hospital chain's headquarters and the Carothers Building, which houses additional CHS office space. The Cool Springs property was also the subject of interest from SouthStar, a commercial real estate development company, before CHS contracted the site.

According to The Tennessean report, now CHS has announced it is expanding its search for office space to beyond Williamson County. At this time, it is unclear how the expanded search will impact the timeline for the construction of the 150,000-square-foot building.
