Carolinas HealthCare System's RCM leader receives HFMA achievement award

Christopher Johnson, vice president of revenue cycle management — regional facilities, at Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas HealthCare System, received the Healthcare Financial Management Association's 2017 Frederick C. Morgan Individual Achievement Award.

The award, presented June 26 during HFMA's annual conference in Orlando, Fla., honors "career-long contributions to HFMA and to the healthcare finance profession."

"Chris Johnson's contributions to both HFMA and his community are truly inspirational," HFMA President and CEO Joseph Fifer said. "Chris embodies the values of service and leadership that are core to our association and our profession."

Mr. Johnson joined HFMA 30 years ago and is currently a fellow of the organization, according to a news release. Previously, he served HFMA as North Carolina Chapter president, and at the national level as a Chapter Advancement Team member. He also previously served at the national level as board of examiners chairman, Patient Financial Services Specialty Group chairman and was a member of the National Advisory Council. Additionally, he served at the regional level as regional executive for Region 4, and has been actively involved in HFMA's Mid-Atlantic Planning Committee, among his other HFMA and community involvement.

He has worked at Carolinas HealthCare System since 1998, moving up through multiple positions to his current role.
