Banner Health opens hospital in Colorado

Phoenix-based Banner Health has opened its $86 million Banner Fort Collins (Colo.) Medical Center, according to The Coloradoan.

The new 22-bed hospital, which opened Monday, features multiple operating rooms, an emergency department, a 16-bed health center and space for the hospital to expand to up to 144 beds, according to the report. It has about 190 physicians, nurses, technicians, cooks and maintenance workers.

Banner anticipates about 2,340 patient visits to the emergency department, 1,036 in-patient admissions and more than 10,300 outpatient visits through the rest of 2015, with that number growing rapidly in 2016, according to the report. During the hospital's first eight hours, specialists examined 35 patients, the emergency room treated and released six patients, and one person was admitted to the hospital.
