ACA cost-sharing subsidies continue this month

President Donald Trump's administration said ACA cost-sharing reduction payments — which help insurers selling plans on the exchanges to subsidize the cost of coverage for low-income Americans — will be made for August, reports Reuters.

Insurers have remained uncertain about the future of the CSRs following threats from President Trump to end the payments. Amid this uncertainty, the White House last week announced a three-week delay for insurers to file final rates for 2018 ACA exchange plans in most states.

Still, whether the payments will be made long term remains unknown, according to the report. The Congressional Budget Office Tuesday estimated insurers would leave individual marketplaces in some states and the federal deficit would increase by $194 billion by 2026 if the payments ended.

President Trump's administration has made the payments so far in 2017.
