5 hospital CFOs in the headlines this week

Here are five hospital and health system CFOs who were in the news this past week.

1. Mark Harrison was in the news this week as he was named CFO of UC San Diego Health Sciences, which encompasses the UC San Diego School of Medicine, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and UC San Diego Health System.

2. Brian Gamble was in the news this week as he was appointed executive vice president and CFO of the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit.

3. Massena (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital CFO James Smith was in the news this week discussing the hospital's financial situation and the facility's future.

4. Edward Romero, CFO of Waterbury (Conn.) Hospital, was in the news this week as he will be leaving his position at the end of March to work for a hospital owned by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare.

5. Robert Mariani, CFO of Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., was in the news this week as a group that calls itself the Coalition to Protect Interfaith Medical Center announced activists would be rallying outside of his home and asking him to step down from his position.
