$1.5B medical complex set to open early next year in San Francisco

The $1.5 billion UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay is set to open Feb. 1, 2015 in San Francisco, according to a hearaldonline.com report.

UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay, which comprises UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco, UCSF Betty Irene Moore Women's Hospital and UCSF Bakar Cancer Hospital, will be located on the biomedical research campus of UC San Francisco, according to the report.

A 289-bed hospital complex and an operating hospital helipad to transport critically ill babies, children and pregnant women to the medical center are some of the features offered at UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay , according to the report.

In addition, the new medical center will drive innovation, with physicians and researchers located near Mission Bay biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.

Laret, CEO of UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, in the report.
