7 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. Kennedy Health unveils $80M renovation at Kennedy University Hospital
Voorhees, N.J.-based Kennedy Health unveiled its $80 million renovation at Kennedy University Hospital in Cherry Hill, N.J., according to NJ.com.

2. MetroHealth to convert 2 medical offices into community hospitals
Cleveland-based MetroHealth plans to convert medical offices in Cleveland Heights and Parma, Ohio, into community hospitals.

3. Plateau Medical Center plans $15.5M expansion project
PlateauMedicalCenter in Oak Hill, W.Va., is planning a $15.5 million expansion and modernization project that will double its number of operating rooms, according to The Register-Herald.

4. Sanford Health to throw employees concert with Fergie, Lionel Richie to celebrate medical center opening
As part of a celebration to mark the opening of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health's new medical center in Fargo, N.D., the health system is throwing a concert for employees and their guests that will include Fergie, Lionel Richie and Carson Wentz, quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, reports the West Central Tribune.

5. Medical City Fort Worth to construct $64M tower with helipad on campus
MedicalCityFort Worth (Texas) broke ground on a $64 million patient tower, which will house the facility's emergency department, according to the Star-Telegram.

6. Lutheran Health Network plans $500M investment
Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Lutheran Health Network, a subsidiary of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, will pursue a multiyear $500 million capital investment plan for nearly all of its facilities, according to a wane.com report.

7. UPMC Hamot buys $3M building to house further Erie expansion
Erie-based UPMC Hamot purchased the former Environmental Reclamation Services center in Erie for $2.98 million to continue its expansion in the area, according to a GoErie.com report.
