6 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. New Washington state psychiatric hospital to open next year amid surging demand for care: 4 things to know

Providence Health Care in Spokane, Wash., is teaming up with Kirkland, Wash.-based Fairfax Behavioral Health to build a 100-bed psychiatric hospital in Spokane by early next year, reports The Spokesman-Review.

2. Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital plans $46M wellness center
DeKalb, Ill.-based Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital is seeking state approval to build a $46 million health and fitness center in the next two years, WNIJ reports.

3. Kaiser opens 3 medical offices in Northern California
Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente on Jan. 3 opened three new medical offices in Santa Cruz County, marking its first market expansion in Northern California in more than two decades, The Mercury News reports.

4. Silver Cross Hospital begins construction on new outpatient center
New Lenox, Ill.-based Silver Cross Hospital plans to build an outpatient surgical center on former farmland previously owned by a New Lenox school district, the Chicago Tribune reports.

5. Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo begins phased move to new medical campus
Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo (N.Y.) will embark on a phased approach for its move to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, beginning this month with the relocation of seven of its outpatient clinics to the newly completed Oishei Children's Outpatient Center.

6. Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center to break ground on $38M renovation
Novant Health UVA Health System Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, Va., is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony Jan. 5 to mark its final phase of renovation, according to the Potomac Local.
