University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Pays Former CFO $312k

University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, based in Little Rock, has agreed to pay former CFO Melony Goodhand $312,000 over the next year to communicate with the academic medical center as it transitions to a new CFO, according to an Arkansas Times report.

Effective Jan. 15, Ms. Goodhand will serve as COO of a hospital in Tennessee, which has been reported as Bristol (Tenn.) Regional Medical Center, according to the report.

The Arkansas Times obtained correspondence between UAMS Chancellor Daniel Rahn, MD, and Ms. Goodhand. The documents showed UAMS will pay her salary for one year from the date of her resignation from private UAMS Foundation funds, and the agreement also includes a non-compete agreement.

The documents also showed UAMS will cover Ms. Goodhand's interim health insurance, and Dr. Rahn added that "we will allow you to keep your assigned laptop and iPad for timely communications and access to information you will need to answer questions," but those tools are expected to be returned on request.
