Scott McKinnon, CEO of Memorial Hospital in North Conway, N.H., made roughly $280,000 in 2010, far less than what his predecessor made, according to a Conway Daily Sun report.
CEO compensation at non-profit hospitals in New Hampshire came under fire earlier this summer when a report from the New Hampshire Center for Public Policy found hospital CEO pay had been rising significantly faster than private sector wages.
Mr. McKinnon's $280,000 compensation included salary, benefits and bonuses, and it was almost 32 percent less than what Gary Poquette, former Memorial Hospital CEO, made in his final year. Mr. Poquette made $410,000 in salary, bonuses and other perquisites in 2008.
The hospital said Mr. McKinnon's compensation is within reason, and Mr. McKinnon has still received raises. However, the hospital has cut back on perks that Mr. Poquette had received, such as a company car, according to the report.
