10 Highest-Paid Hospital Executives in Washington

Hospitals with a fiscal year ending December 31 are required to report executive compensation information to the Washington State Department of Health by May 15.

Among the hospitals and health systems that have provided 2013 salary data to the state, here are the 10 highest-paid executives. Their reported salaries include base compensation, bonus and incentive compensation, retirement and deferred compensation, and non-taxable benefits, as well as any other reportable compensation.

1. Gay Kaplan, MD, CEO, Virginia Mason Medical Center (Seattle) —$1.96 million

2. Charles Schneider, former president and CEO (through May 2013), Northwest Hospital and Medical Center (Seattle) — $1.69 million

3. Richard Roodman, CEO, Valley Medical Center (Renton) — $1.43 million

4. Thomas Hansen, MD, CEO, Seattle Children's Hospital — $1.41 million

5. Diane Cecchettini, RN, CEO, MultiCare Health System (Tacoma) — $1.39 million

6. Joseph Wilczek, CEO, Franciscan Health System — $1.39 million

7. Alan Yordy, president and CMO, PeaceHealth (Vancouver) —$1.27 million

8. Rand Wortman, president and CEO, Kadlec Health System (Richland) — $1.04 million

9. Robert Malte, CEO, EvergreenHealth (Kirkland) — $996,268

10. John Serle, president and CEO, Lourdes Health Network (Pasco) — $832,539
