St. Mary Medical Center, 250 physicians form ACO in Pennsylvania

St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pa., and 250 affiliated physicians have formed an accountable care organization that is participating in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, according to a report by the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The organization, named the Quality Health Alliance ACO, is expected to become operational in January of next year.

"Our venture will be physician-led and focused on providing high-quality, patient-centered care that will be completely integrated from top to bottom," said Benjamin Chack, MD, president of Quality Health Alliance ACO.

Last week, 50 physicians and Doylestown (Pa.) Hospital, which is located in the same county as St. Mary Medical Center, announced they would join Delaware Valley ACO. That ACO is also a Medicare Shared Savings program participant.
