Orlando Health Affiliates With Medicare ACO

Orlando (Fla.) Health recently announced it has affiliated with Primary Partners, a Medicare Shared Savings Program accountable care organization in central Florida, effective Aug. 2.

The affiliation aims to improve patient access to primary care, design new models for caring for patients with chronic diseases, lower readmission rates and implement collaborative programs.

"We recognize the important role of private, community physicians in the new healthcare environment," Wayne Jenkins, MD, president of Orlando Health Physician Partners, said in a news release. "In this new healthcare environment, collaboration is key. As this affiliation [demonstrates], there are many avenues by which independent physicians who wish to work collaboratively can do so and continue to maintain their independence."

The affiliation is non-exclusive and does not alter the status of Orlando Health, its physician practices or Primary Partners, according to the release.

Primary Partners has more than 60 providers in 40 practices serving more than 14,000 Medicare beneficiaries.
