Aetna, Fresenius Medical Care Enter Into Collaborative Care Agreement

Waltham, Mass.-based Fresenius Medical Care and Aetna have entered into a collaborative care agreement aimed at improving the quality of care for Aetna's Medicare Advantage members who have end-stage renal disease.

Under the agreement, Aetna nurse case managers will work with the staff at FMC on quality and healthcare management to cut costs while improving health outcomes for ESRD patients receiving dialysis.

"We are proud to collaborate with Aetna and deliver resources and customized therapies necessary to improve the lives of people living with end-stage renal disease," said Ron Kuerbitz, CEO of FMC North America, in a news release. "This collaboration embodies a truly integrated approach to serving the full spectrum of healthcare needs for this vulnerable population."
