NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital | 50 of the Greenest Hospitals in America 2015

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (New York City). Despite being the largest nonprofit, non-sectarian hospital in the country by bed count and among the top two percent of energy users in the New York City metropolitan area, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital works hard to reduce its environmental footprint. As a participant in the former Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Hospital Challenge, NYP aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions 30 percent, or 20,000 tons, by 2018. The hospital's efforts earned it the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year-Sustained Excellence Award from the EPA in 2014 and 2015. Additionally, the Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center at NYP boasts a LEED Gold certification, the first healthcare facility in the Mid-Atlantic region to receive this designation.
