University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (Madison)
The heart, vascular and thoracic care at UW Health in Madison has a special emphasis on angioplasty, peripheral vascular blockages and limb salvage, cardiac surgery and heart and lung transplant, in addition to other services. The hospital is involved in early studies for adult stem cell treatments in patients with heart attacks, heart failure and refractory chest pain as a result of poor heart circulation. U.S. News & World Report named University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics as the No. 1 hospital in Wisconsin and listed the hospital as high-performing for heart failure, aortic valve surgery and heart bypass surgery. The hospital was named to Truven Health Analytics' 2016 list of 50 top cardiovascular hospitals and received a three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics is also a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care with Magnet accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
