Steven Shapiro, MD. Executive Vice President and Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of UPMC (Pittsburgh). Dr. Shapiro is the president of UPMC's health services division in addition to his executive vice president and chief medical and science officer roles. His was previously chair of the medicine department at UPMC. He serves on the Journal of Clinical Investigation's editorial board and was previously editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.
