Mount Sinai Hospital (New York City). Mount Sinai Hospital opened in 1852 and now houses 1,171 beds. The hospital established a medical school — now called the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai — in 1963. Mount Sinai Hospital includes more than 7,000 physicians and more than 38,000 employees. The hospital opened the first geriatric emergency department in New York City and U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 3 in the state and among the top 20 hospitals in the nation for 2016-17.
