The hospital's 1,150 physicians span 51 specialties and subspecialties, and the Magnet-designated hospital's medical education program trains approximately 20 fellows, 165 residents and 800 medical students each year.

Not only is Advocate Lutheran General at the top of its class clinically, but the hospital is also making strides environmentally. It became the first hospital in the Midwest to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council in 2010 for its patient tower that opened in 2009. Advocate Lutheran is also a four-time recipient of the Partner for Change Award from Practice Greenhealth, which recognizes healthcare facilities that continuously improve upon their progress in mercury elimination, waste reduction and pollution prevention programs.
